Cheese Ball

Print Recipe
Val B. has been making this for years, and it is one of my favourite Christmas treats. Even after I left the Okanagan, she would mail me a nice container of it along with some other Christmas baking. It's the perfect savoury spread. It's chunky, spots of green onion for a little crunch, a little bit of heat, but mostly just cheese. I put my own spin on the recipe in recent years, and no longer just make it for Christmas.
If you wanted to make it fancier, you could put it through a blender, and pipe it onto crackers for better presentation, but that seems awfully fussy.

This was the favourite recipe I made for Stoki back in 2020. I had doubled the recipe and it was gone in moments. I should have quadrupled this recipe.

These were the first treats C. and I made for our Stoki Sundays together. We wanted to make a good first impression to celebrate everyone arriving to the school. And who doesn’t love cupcakes?

  • Buttercream Frosting

I always use this for Birthday Cakes. It holds a good from, and takes colouring really well. It is a lot of butter, so don’t go too crazy, otherwise you’ll get bathroom issues. C. just eats the icing, and tries to give the cupcake to whoever is closest.

  • Haupia

This is my favourite dessert from Hawaii. It’s super simple, but is absolutely delicious. Unless you don’t like coconuts, but then you also don’t like happiness, so you can be sad while I eat my haupia.
