Borscht 2024
An updating recipe on the Borscht I make for Ukrainian/Orthodox Christmas. Change it how you like it.
Ingredients
The Broth
- Soup Bones
- 1 L Beef Broth
- 1 L Vegetable Broth
The Contents
- 1 C Sausage
- 1/2 C Bacon
- 1 C Red/Yellow Pepper Diced
- 1 C Ground Beef Cooked
- 1 Can White Kidney Beans
- 1/2 C Ham Cubed
- 1 L Tomato Sauce Just tomatoes
- 1-1/2 C Onions Diced
- 1-1/2 C Carrots Shredded
- 4 C Beets Shredded
- 1 Can Diced Tomatoes Large
- 4 tsp Garlic
- 4 tsp Dill Fresh
Instructions
The Broth
- Add the roasted bones to vegetable and beef broth.
- Add random cuts, pieces, and other broth bits
- Simmer for hours
The Contents
- Cut everything up
- Add it to the pot
- Let it simmer for more hours
- Add the canned tomatoes and fresh dill last.
- It can always use more seasoning.
