Borscht 2024

An updating recipe on the Borscht I make for Ukrainian/Orthodox Christmas. Change it how you like it.
The Broth
- Soup Bones
- 1 L Beef Broth
- 1 L Vegetable Broth
The Contents
- 1 C Sausage
- 1/2 C Bacon
- 1 C Red/Yellow Pepper Diced
- 1 C Ground Beef Cooked
- 1 Can White Kidney Beans
- 1/2 C Ham Cubed
- 1 L Tomato Sauce Just tomatoes
- 1-1/2 C Onions Diced
- 1-1/2 C Carrots Shredded
- 4 C Beets Shredded
- 1 Can Diced Tomatoes Large
- 4 tsp Garlic
- 4 tsp Dill Fresh
The Broth
Roast the bones in an oven at 400°F for 45m Add the roasted bones to vegetable and beef broth.
Add random cuts, pieces, and other broth bits
Simmer for hours
The Contents
Cut everything up
Add it to the pot
Let it simmer for more hours
Add the canned tomatoes and fresh dill last.
It can always use more seasoning.
